Haben uns erst kurz vor Abflug entschieden, lieber in ein kleines B & B zu gehen, als in das vorher gewählte Touristenhotel. Dies entpuppte sich als eine sehr gute Entscheidung: Jan und Bruce waren von der ersten Minute großartige Gastgeber und gaben uns das Gefühl nach einer langen Reise nach Hause kommen. Das Zimmer war liebevoll eingerichtet, das Bad wunderschön. Und jeden Morgen und Abend fuhren wirklich Amish-Kutschen direkt am Haus vorbei. ||Das absolute Highlight aber war das Frühstück! Wir haben selten so gut gegessen und das Rezept für das Sweet-Zucchini-Bread habe ich schon ein paarmal weitergegeben dürfen, weil es einfach so lecker ist. Gegessen wurde am großen Tisch in immer neuer Zusammensetzung und jeden Morgen kam es zu interessanten und lustigen Gesprächen, an denen sich auch Jan und Bruce immer wieder beteiligten. Die zum Haus gehörenden Katzen ließen sich sehen, aber ungern anfassen. Der Aufenthalt hatte insgesamt eher etwas von einem wirklich netten Familientreffen als von einer Hotelübernachtung. ||Bruce ist Maler und seine Bilder hängen im ganzen Haus - und sind auch zu kaufen. Auch wir haben uns die Gelegenheit nicht entgehen lassen und wenn wir sie jetzt sehen, sind sie eine schöne Erinnerung. ||Nachdem wir uns am ersten Abend essenstechnisch ein wenig verirrt hatten, wurden wir auch gleich mit einem tollen Restaurant-Tipp für den nächsten Abend versorgt. Hätten wir mal gleich die Fachleute gefragt! ||Wir würden jederzeit wieder hierher fahren - und das ist dann auch schon das einzige Manko: Da Terre Hill so "off the beaten tracks" liegt, wird es ganz schön schwierig werden, dieses tolle B & B in unsere nächsten USA-Urlaube einzubinden...aber wir werden es versuchen! - Allein schon weil die Jan's Postings auf Facebook soviel Lust machen, wieder dort zu urlauben.

Wir waren eine Nacht im "Garden Suite", zwei schöne Zimmer mit Jacuzzi, sehr schöne Möbel, und ein bequemes Bett.||Zum Frühstück gab es vier selbstgemachte Gänge, das ist schon außergewöhnlich. Eine nette Unterhaltung mit vielen Informationen gab es mit den Gastgebern.||Kann ich weiterempfehlen!

My wife and I recently spent a night at this outstanding, unique inn in celebration of a my “ special” birthday, As soon as we stepped into the bed and breakfast, we knew we were going to enjoy a special experience. Quirky and charming in the most positive way, the inn is a working gallery where Bruce creates whimsical lithographs and writes humorous books that have been published to popular acclaim. ||||The other artist in the inn is Jan, a terrific chef, whose multi- course breakfasts are true culinary masterpieces. I have stayed at many, many bed and breakfasts but Jan’s breakfast was the best ever! My wife and I so enjoyed chatting with Jan and Bruce- their “ passions” were both commendable and enviable.||||Up a narrow staircase, our suite was comfortable, uniquely decorated and totally commensurate with the artistic theme of the inn. Where else, in an historic, more than 100 year old house could you fit into one accommodation a king- size bed, a a water closet, a vanity/ sink in the sleeping area, a shower, a whirlpool tub and daybed in the bathroom and an expansive private bedroom porch/sitting area? And turn down service with homemade chocolates!||||In addition, the inn is centrally located with easy access to all the attractions and ambience associated with the Amish experience.||||We hope to return to the inn in the future and thank Jan and Bruce for their gracious hospitality.

The grounds are beautiful with flowers and art. The house was very clean, and cozy, with lots of room. We spent a lot of time in the sunroom playing cards. The beds are wonderful in fact, one in our party slept so well that she ordered a new mattress on the way home! A stocked cookie jar with homemade chocolate chip cookies that were so good. Fresh eggs, bacon, homemade bread, a blueberry, lemon zucchini cake, and cereal for breakfast were placed in the refrigerator for us. Close to the sights and an outdoor space that was as relaxing as the indoors while hearing the clicking clack of the Amish buggies. Highly recommend for any type of getaway.

The Artists Inn was fabulous! Bruce & Jan were extremely hospitable. Bruce’s art work & the gallery is quite impressive and entertaining. Jan’s cooking is outstanding. My main concern when traveling is always cleanliness. Our room and all the public areas were spotless. We stayed in the Rose Room and the mattress was so comfortable & the sheets were soft and cozy. The bathroom was clean, but I am pretty sure Jan spruced it up each day when she would make our bed and open the blinds anyway, which was a nice touch. She also turned down our beds each night and left us a little treat like home made candies for when we returned for the night. Overall, it was a lovely stay and we will most certainly be back again. Of course, talking and mingling with the other guests at breakfast each morning was very nice as well!

When you book on line and base the choice on reviews of people you don';t know, well, it' an educated guess.||We did just that with Artist's Inn and got totally lucky. It was excellent.||We stayed in the Sophie side of the Sisters house and it was big, bright, comfortable and perfect for us.||3 bedrooms, two baths made it great. It was roomy, comfortable, well appointed, and like a mini home.||It's not as close to downtown Lancaster as we thought, but that really didn't affect our enjoyment. The countryside is beautiful, and Terre Hill is small but quaint.||We wanted to do antiquing in Adamstown etc and this is very convenient to all. We went into Lancaster several times, and that worked well too.||We highly recommend this and found the hosts to be excellent.||Like the old Burger King add said: try it, you'll like it!

We had another lovely weekend in their king suite. We love historic homes and we loved the beautiful furnishings in the Artist Inn, our second visit was wonderful. Jan and Bruce are lovely people and they prepared a delicious gourmet breakfast. They think of everything, magnifying makeup mirror, night light, white noise machine, radio with cd player and easy listening cds and a beautiful jetted tub with bath salts. Thank you Jan and Bruce for a great weekend!

Perfection!
We have stayed in 7 B&B's in Lancaster. We recently stayed at the Artist Inn for our second time. Jan and Bruce keep a spotless Inn and both are absolutely wonderful. Bruce is always quick with a morning joke as Jan prepares not only a DELICIOUS, but an ABUNDANT breakfast. She takes pride in her table setting as well as the presentation of each course she is going to serve. There are always snacks and beverages available to their guests as well as a Keurig coffee maker. One of the many things we love is Jan's personal touches. In addition to homemade cookies in the cookie jar throughout the day, is her attention to the end of the day. After a fun day and evening in Lancaster County, you return to your room to find the shades pulled down, your covers pulled down and 2 homemade pieces of chocolate on a miniature tray on top of your bed. After experiencing several B&B's, I find this is the one I compare the rest to. Plan a visit here, you will walk away from the breakfast table full in both body and spirit.
